SURF NORTH SHORE PERU 5 days / 4 nights

A land of uncrowded and endless left poinbreaks In this world of crowded waves, here is an unbelievable set of the longest left pointbreaks on earth at the same latitude as Indonesia and believe or not, with no one out. Add the fact that it breaks mostly on sand.

THE QUESTION ABOUT CHICAMA: how long is long ?

Well, the maps show a distance of 4 KM. between the Cape and the fishermen jetty. Obviously, no one has ever surfed that long, you'd need marathon man's legs but on good days, you can ride that thing like a snowslope, with 3-5 rides. You hardly ever paddle back to the lineup, you cruise till you're out of breath or wipe out and wait for the next freight train, before getting out and walking back to the Cape, fighting against the constant offshore wind.

Water requires a light fullsuit May-Nov and a springsuit the rest of the time.

Regular 4-12 ft S-SW swells come from the Lows down in the Southern Latitudes, with a minimum of 3 ft swell produced by the cold Humboldt current associated with S winds. Because of the constant temp difference between dry land and relatively coldish water, prevailing S winds are just perfect and regular. The direction is straight S 40-55% of the time while it's SE 30-45%, which is offshore on NW exposed bays like Chicama. Chicama is always offshore : insane ! Usually, SE morning wind turn to S after noon.
